Transcend 8 GB Class 6 SDHC Flash Memory Card TS8GSDHC6ReviewsI have used this brand before and find it is great for the price. The type 6 was preferred due to the speed of the application. I have had 4 Transcend memory sticks over the past 12 months (CF and SD) and all have worked flawlessly at speeds necessary to keep up with a multiple high speed sequence shooting using a Canon Rebel Digital. I highly recommend this brand as it is great for the price with the reliability to match. I am starting to notice some delay in processing pictures. Now I am not sure if it is this or the camera (Canon Rebel XS). But I will go get another memory card to test. The package is a nightmare to open. Capacity has not been an issue. Hope this helps. This card is a really really good deal. I went to the supermarket and they were trying to sell 2GB cards for $15. I bought this 8GB card from Amazon for my underwater digital camera, and was able to use the highest pixel settings. I could save my pics with really good resolution. My camera, which normally would have taken around 200 pictures was able to take over 600+! (I don't actually know the maximum that my camera can hold because for my entire week long trip, I never once had to change my memory card. I felt bad for my poor friend who had to keep switching out her 2GB cards. The price Amazon offers for this card (currently approx $25 with free shipping is totally worth it.) I am disappointed in the product in that I never received it. I found a good deal on it through Amazon and elected to utilize the free super saver shipping but the package was empty. The envelope wasn't very heavy and appeared to have sustained damage and opened up sometime during shipping or processing via the USPS. Upon arrival in my mail box, it was inside a seperate "apology" plastic bag from the USPS with no contents. I attempted to resolve the issue through the post office and also sent an email to the vendor prior to this review but met with no success. I PAID BUT NEVER RECEIVED THE PRODUCT - JUST AN EMPTY ENVELOPE! Originally I bought this for my GPS, but the GPS refused to recognize it. Tried formatting it using different softwares but never got it working. Tried it on a few laptops equipped with HDSD readers, but to no avail. I would not recommend this memory to anyone. Transcend 8 GB Class 6 SDHC Flash Memory Card with USB Card Reader TS8GSDHC6-P2ReviewsI think my Canon 870is can now hold 5,000 pics with this card! The reader is pretty cheap plastic but the card works as well as any other brand. I will buy another one of these when I upgrade my camera and my wife will get this one. This card is a Class 6 so it is very fast and it's 1/2 the price of a SanDisk. I needed the reader because my older reader doesn't read SDHC cards. Be sure if you get this without the reader that your PC/Laptop can read SDHC cards since they look identical to SD cards. The card seems to be functioning with my Nikon D40, but I cannot access the software for repairing problems with it. To access the software on the website you need the serial number. The packaging on this model does not have a serial number like the one shown in the instructions on the website. The tech service people do not seem to understand my problem after I have written three times. They keep sending me solutions that require a serial number that I told them I do not have. If I cannot even get them to understand a simple request about getting the software, I would hate to have to deal with a serious problem. I'm using this in a Panasonic ZS3 and I have no complaints, I can shoot video with it no problem. Just make sure you're getting class 6 (which this is) or better. Haven't tried the card reader, it was just a throw-in since there wasn't much price difference betweeb the card with or without it. So you're looking at buying this, which means you're looking for the memory card and the reader. Given the current Amazon prices are ~$5 different between the model with the card reader and just the card, this means the card reader costs you approximately $5, right? Well, you get what you pay for. The card itself is fast, both in writing from a Canon XSi DSLR camera and in reading from the included card reader. The capacity is 8 GB (less in actual use thanks to formatting the device). I can take the quoted fastest frames per second (3.5 fps) with this card, unlike the generic 2 GB SD card I have. The Class 6 speed really seems to help. Now the card reader itself... it's VERY cheaply built. It doesn't feel like it will break if you drop it, but it doesn't seem like it would take much to damage it either. The memory card sticks out of the reader which is a blessing or a curse depending on how you look at it. It's easy to remove the card from the reader. It just takes some lining up on your part to ensure the card is inserted correctly. For a $5 premium? I don't care if the reader is cheaply built. It WORKS and it is cheap. And that's enough for me. I wanted to try a larger card than I already had for a Canon XSI and saw this card and reader for close to the same price as just a card. Although I already had some card readers, or the camera itself, to transfer information, this reader looked very small and therefore quite handy. And although I had initially had been looking at memory cards and trying to find out if the information transfer rate would matter with the camera, I finally bought this to try out the card and reader. I could not find out if the card transfer rates would really make a difference with the camera so I bought this card, which is much larger than my other memory cards. All I can say is the card works just fine with the camera and the reader, and the reader works just fine with the only Mac I've plugged it into. What was learned is that speed of transfer doesn't appear to matter unless you have a very specific application where you probably already know it matters, and that the card reader will probably work with any, reasonably recent, USB port. I give the card and reader 100% and may by the set again. Average Rating:![]() |

Transcend 8 GB Class 6 SDHC Flash Memory Card with USB 2.0 Card Reader TS8GSDHC6-S5WReviewsPurchased this to primarily use in my Canon XSi. Have also used it in my Panasonic TZ-5. Found write speeds to be very fast, which translates into shorter lag time between shots. I have found the card reader to be very useful. I prefer not to plug my camera into the computer, so I use the reader with all my flash cards. Fast transfer speeds during upload. Ii purchased two of these SD card / USB reader combos. Each of the SD cards failed - one very quickly (within 1 month, I believe), and the other after approximately 6 months. For as much as these cost, I had expected them to last MUCH longer. In short, I strongly recommend you purchase another SD card. Bought two and they are great. Fast transfer speed and no glitches. Have been using almost daily for two months with no problems at all. You can not beat this product for the price! I bought this Class 6 memory card for my new Panasonic Lumix ZS3 camera and it works great! It is very fast to write and I've had no problems whatsoever. I'd purchase the same one again. The Transcend card reader works perfectly, too and will read very quickly. No problems with either! I bought the chip, and was at first I was pleased with the performance. Not long after starting to use it (a couple months), my computer would not recognize the 8 Gig chip as anything but 4 Gigs. I would have been better off purchasing a Kingston or ScanDisk product due to this cards low reliability. Average Rating:![]() |
