HP DreamScreen 100 10.2-Inch Wireless Connected Screen HP DreamScreen 100 10.2-Inch Wireless Connected Screen

Reviews

Do you want a very nice looking digital picture frame? Then why spend $100 plus and get JUST that? Why not get a bunch of other "netpliance" apps along with it. Many people can go into more detail about the limitations of the Dreamscreen, and I did have my moments of cursing on setup (Facebook!) and the limits of some of the apps, and the apparent lack of multitasking and some dumb menu item designs. Audio is ok but not great (we fixed it with small pc speakers you can attach). Video WMV and AVI not supported ?!?! stupid. Got it. BUT, if you want a WiFi-based countertop screen that beautifully shows pictures you've loaded, or pictures OFF OF ANOTHER PC (with the Dreamscreen located anywhere in your house, and with no cable attachments), videos you've loaded, music you've loaded or run OFF OF ANOTHER PC (get the theme?), a silly clock or calendar or the weather outside, or listen to Pandora stations, or selected FM radio stations. And you want it to look nice and bright. And you don't want keyboard laying there. And you want it small enough yet big enough, a countertop picture frame. And you don't demand an instant countertop browser. And you want frame front controls or a long distance remote control. And you don't demand touchscreen. And you want all of that for $200 or less. Then come on, this is COOL. Get it even if you have a netbook or an iPhone or and iPad. Or...watch for it to evolve next year. But we got one and are happy with it. My wife wanted a digital pic frame. Almost the same price - we got all of this. I am listening to Coldplay playing from this PC, but in the kitchen, while it's cycling through pics from Christmas. About to switch to Car Talk. Come on, it's pretty cool.

Easy to use and set up. My only complaint is that it doesn't really multitask. If you're on Pandora, and want to check the weather, it will stop pandora. The only thing it will allow you to do simultaneously is a slideshow.

Could be a lot better, does not have a battery I did not think about it but it would be so usefull. There are a lot of features on it that are not very friendly Alarm clock, it will only turn on to the same song every morning no random play Randomm play, is not random if you start it on a certain song, it will always play in the same order. Wish there was a way just to play all music instead of going through all your music to start. Video, I found a lot of my .avi and .mpeg would not play on it. if you have to change the volume from the screen you have to wait a bit for it to change off of that menu before you can do anything else otherwise you are always stuck in volume mode. It does have awesome quality of the picture and the sound is very very nice. You must connect it to your wifi router, you can not do a bridge to your laptop or network it must be to the router. This being said I think if I Were to have the option to buy again I would wait for an updated version.

I use the HP Dreamscreen for my daily alarm clock, because of its extensive feature set (three timers, select musical wake up tunes for each, red numbers at night, etc.). I also like being able to have it off all day and it automatically coming on late at night, when I want a bedside alarm clock (like everything else, customizable). Overall the unit's user interface makes using the many features easy. The Internet radio support, especially for Pandora, is excellent. The unit sounds good for what it is, about what you'd get from any decent plastic tabletop radio. But plug in a good set of computer speakers and you've got a cheap and easy upgrade for the audio (I tossed them under the bedside tables). The Dreamscreen is also a full featured photo frame. Setting up the wireless networking was easy, with a well polished process. Almost any question can be answered by the full screen tutorials, located in the 2GB of onboard memory (you can free up about 300MB by deleting them). My wishlist is similar the other reviewers': Sleep timer for the audio A basic browser Ability to plug in any Internet Radio station (but HP does provide a massive selection from all over the world) I give it 4.25 stars out of 5 and would recommend it to anyone.

HP had a neat idea here, but somewhere along the way from concept to completion it lost its way. It is too pricey for what it offers. I essence it is an expensive clock/calendar, internet radio player and 10" picture viewer, with a few other bells and whistles thrown in for good measure. The interface is time consuming and cumbersome to use and the speaker is not strong or of a very good quality. On the plus side the screen is nice and bright with a good viewing angle, and it displays photos and video nicely. And it does connect wirelessly to the internet. Let's break it down: 1. It easily connects to my home network, after I changed the security settings. 2. It is a good photo viewer though there are better dedicated ones. It can connect to your Snapfish library...if you have one. 3. Stream music from the internet or from your home PC. However, the interface for this is cumbersome and choosing internet stations is a pain. And then there are those underpowered speakers. 4. It works as an alarm clock and you can wake up to music. Okay I guess. 5. You can monitor your Facebook account and friends' status, but you can't update yours. 6. It has a calendar. Yippee. 7. Weather reports can be accessed from the web. Nice but not essential, just turn on the weather channel. This product practically begs for touch screen capability. If it had that, then I would say it is worth the price. But know, you are left to use either the remote or the few controls on the bottom and right edge of the screen. The menu interface is still slow to get through and overly complicated. I am not sure who HP was targeting with the Dreamscreen. Perhaps minimalists who want to ditch their clock, internet radio, calendar and standard photo frame in favor of this. For them it would be good. Perhaps. But for the rest of us, just use your computer or smart phone. It is quicker, easier, and you can do more. Kevin Nicholls hit the nail on the head with his review. My opinion is to wait -- easier to use and more functional devices are on the horizon or are already in your home. But if you want a digital picture frame that can do other things (though not well) and you don't mind the price, then this may just be for you. I've had mine for months and the only feature I still regularly use is the photo slideshow.

Split-Top Laptop Caddy! Portable Adjustable Rollin Split-Top Laptop Caddy! Portable Adjustable Rollin

I was quite dissapointed in my purchase truthfully. It took two weeks for delivery which I thought was alot. When I received the item there was visible damage on one whole side of the box. It was taped up but the box was ripped open. When I opened the box there was visible damage on the desktop on the side of the desk that was on the box damaged side. There was a three foot cruical piece to the table that was missing from the box and several of the parts were mismarked, meaning that the part in the box labled with a "c" did not correspond with the diagram. I called the company and they sent me a new desk and I received that in five days. This one was not damaged on the outside of the box . But it did have more mismarked parts inside again. I got the desk put together and it works great. It definitly was not a very good second purchase from Amazon.com. Thanks , Cheryl

I bought this laptop table because it was inexpensive and hoping that it was easy to install, but it took my boyfriend and I two hours to put together. On top of that, the holes that allows you to adjust the height of the desk is mismatched, making mine sitting at the lowest level. The table is unsturdy and it took too long to put it together. The tools they give you is crap and you will get so frustrated at using it that you will feel like throwing it across the room. if you want to spend some quality time with your loved ones, then this is highly recommended. If not, look for another product. p.s. when the box arrived at my house 8 days later, the cardboard was ripped and you can see what was contained inside.

I just finished assembling this unit, and I'm using it while writing this review. I have to say that this product exceeds my expectations. I went with the lower priced desk (around $50 total) because this is the first product of its kind that I purchase. I am loving it already, the adjustable height is great, and the adjustable angle of the desk as well. Product came with everything needed for assembly which didn't take that long to do(it might be a little bit tedious dealing with some of the small screws, make sure you tighten them well but not over the limit - I guess this is common sense lol). Quality seems good so far (I hope it lasts long). The only thing that could be improved in my opinion is the length of the left (main) desk. I don't know if that would be possible though because it is already kinda heavy. Anyways I give this product 5 stars for the price, features and quality (mostly price because it was the cheapest within the alternatives).

I bought this laptop stand for my mother along with a laptop for Christmas. It works perfectly. Great price compared to the others I have seen on here, and the quality is good. I just got my own laptop and will be buying one for myself shortly! I cannot wait to get it.

I bought this because it was priced considerably lower than the alternatives, and came in the color scheme I wanted. It was fairly easy to assemble, and is larger than one might expect. However, the factory packs the parts in such a way that one or more pieces of the metal components ends up loose in the box, causing damage in transit that may range from minor scratches to major defacement of the table top. Mine arrived with two small chips in the top and slight marring on one of the metal parts, but I've decided I can live with those flaws. If this had been priced even $20 more, I would have returned it instead.

I bought this unit to replace an old 4 channel viewer for my home security system (display only, no DVR). Installation was easy; more or less plug and play. This product has more features than I need, but I've had fun playing with it. The two features I wanted: playback and remote internet access work well. I can view my home security cameras from any PC anywhere in the world. The playback is fairly intuitive. The "record on motion" feature increases recording time. Overall I am very satisfied with the product. I'm only giving 4 stars, becuase the user documentation could be improved.

Product shipped when ordered, and USPS indicated it was delivered 3 days later. Finally, the product arrived via USPS 20 days after the original delivery indication date.... USE ANOTHER METHOD OF DELIVERY!

I received the battery on time and it worked fantastic. Now I am able to take lots of pictures of my six months old baby. My camera is a R707 is a great camera pictures are neat and the colors are wonderful but my old battery was dead due to a bad charger. Now I bought this new battery and a new charger a both of them work very well. I recommend this product.

After 2+ years, the camera's original battery was losing its ability to hold a charge. This replacement battery arrived promptly, fit easily and was fully charged in a couple of hours. I wish I had replaced the battery sooner, instead of constantly worrying about running out of battery power.

I have an R717 camera. I bought the dock too. Each one comes with a battery and the batteries look identical. HP labels both as an R07 battery but the L1812A has squared edges running logitudinally and this feature makes it very difficult to remove from the camera. The other battery is the L1812B and is identical in every way except its edges are rounded and that makes enough difference to allow it to easily slide out of the camera. I bought a "clone" battery (not HP) and its edges are rounded too. Maybe HP could explain the difference. Just thought you would like to know.

Actually, there is nothing much to review except to say that the product arrived in a condition that I expected. It is just a rechargeable camera battery.

HP 16 GB Class 4 SDHC Flash Memory Card Q6305A-EF HP 16 GB Class 4 SDHC Flash Memory Card Q6305A-EF

Reviews

I bought this for my Sony picture frame. I've put 2000 high res pictures and still have 13 Gig free. I couldn't be happier.

No problems yet, works great. Stores my pictures, does no more :). I dont expect more no one should do so as it shouldn't do anything more. Has nothing to do with quality as its supposed to store data, if your data has quality then this will store it. Got that.

Not the fastest out there, but so far the card proved itself more reliable than A-Data products. Use it to keep all my library on the E-book reader

HP's 8GB SDHC card appears to be one of the better buys at the time of this review, as far as price/performance/capacity is concerned. In my case, it fulfills the task assigned - store a large number of photos for an electronic picture frame to display. However, its relatively low write speed may NOT make it suitable if the intended use was in a camera taking large 'rapid fire' shots. PERFORMANCE I would like to note that I did not test the card with a camera but it's stated 'Class 4' speed class, which is the equivalent of a 26x speed rating should guarantee a MINIMUM of 4MB/s. Unlike the 'x' ratings, the speed class ratings are NOT certified by an independent body so, more or less, you will have to decide whether you trust the card's maker. It so happens that I DID test the card myself and I found that I could copy 1.6 GB worth of photos in about 5 minutes. This is 5MB/s for writing on the card for the first time, indicating that the Class 4/26x claim is honest. Practically, if you are going to use this card in a camera, depending on the quality of the pics you are taking, you may or may not be happy with its performance. At 12 megapixels, a 100% quality JPG would produce a 2-3 MB file so, without even counting the overhead, your camera will spend about half second, possibly more to write to the card which may or may not be in line with your own expectation. For better performance, look for a higher 'class' number 133x/Class 20, for example, should support 20 MB/s or writing up to 10 12-megapixel JPG photo files per second. ADDITIONAL FEATURES/CONCERNS The card comes formatted as FAT32 and my Vista Enterprise computer was able to write to it. If, for whatever reason, FAT32 is not what you need, you should be able to format it under Windows/Vista, Mac or Unix/Linux to whatever you may need. Not ALL cameras support FAT32. Older cameras may only be aware of FAT16 and can't see any card larger that 4GB. If in doubt, check with the manufacturer or maybe read your camera's reviews at Amazon. Related to the above - anyone who may have a device meant to use SD cards should be aware that SDHC may not work with it so it's better to ask the maker. Finally, one nice thing about HP's card - it comes with a write-protect tab. If you are not using your card in a camera and want to prevent accidental writes, move the tab to the 'lock' position but, be careful, it will NOT work with your camera if you forget to move the tab back to 'unlock'. RATING This is a honestly rated Class 4 card. Class 4, as I explained, means SLOW so, if blazing-fast write speed is not an issue, this is probably what you need given the price and the maker's reputation - by the way, the card is manufactured in Japan. For what it is, the card deserves 5 stars.

I purchased it for a Panasonic HD Camcorder and it has worked flawlessly. Cheap and dependable.

Linksys by Cisco WRT160N Wireless-N Broadband Router Linksys by Cisco WRT160N Wireless-N Broadband Router

Reviews

Router works great after upgrading the firmware...before upgrade it only worked on the computer it was wired to (defeats the purpose)... after the upgrade I haven't had any issues. Instructions for upgrading firmware can be found on linksys knowledge base.

Upgraded from older wired linksys to wrt160n. Only thing I didn't like about the purchase was that it didn't tell you version number (apparently need to avoid v1 and v2). Luckily, looks like they fixed it and I received v3. Setup took ridiculously short time (took hours on the wired one, especially since I needed to clone IP/open ports) - transferred all of my settings to new router. Only thing I had to do was go in and edit wireless settings on laptop to allow for file/print sharing. Very good range and signal quality. Design looks much better than most (if not all) similarly priced wired/wireless routers. would recommend it

i BOUGHT THIS ROUTER TO REPLACE MY NETGEAR WHICH WAS MANY YEARS OLD. wHEN linksys DID NOT WORK, i HAD TO CALL TECHNICAL SERVICE 7 TIMES BEFORE FINALLY GETTING SOMEONE TO WORK ON MY ISSUE. THE DECIDED IT WAS DEFECTIVE AND i WOULD HAVE TO MAKE even more CALLS TO GET A REPLACEMent. My calls to service were either with tech service agents who know nothing, were lazy and incoherent, disconnected me or were rude and insulting. Finally ended with someone who helped but after 4 hours could do nothing. I returned it (I don't know why that took me so long!) and bought another netgear router-it works thank goodness! They also try to charge you 10 dollars to help you get the NEW router set up faster..unbelievable!

worst linksys router i've owned yet...rivals my opinion of D-Link routers. stay away, go find something else. the problems I have encountered...drops wireless connection intermittantly (have checked, is not my laptop), gets confused when I connect a switch to the router, denies switch access to the internet and does not allow DHCP to establish ip addresses for devices on the switch (not the switch, works great with other routers). again, stay away, has to be an embarassment for linksys to even conceive such a device.

This model has been very stable and reliable. There is no antenna options, but the wireless range is very good. Update the firmware to get a speed boost because the stock firmware is flakey. If you are using 802.11b - g, you will pleased with the increased speed. You may have to change 802.11n channel width to "auto" on the router and the adapter to obtain N speed. Use Auto settings to get the best speed. If you use DHCP, then just plug it in and forget the Linksys setup.

I don't normally have the time to write reviews but wanted to let anyone who is thinking of buying this "toy" know that they SHOULDN'T. It is, as the first reviewer says, a total piece of junk. Not only is it completely kid UN-friendly, the main kid component it advertises on the front of being a walkie talkie is UNUSABLE unless you buy a whole separate piece of junk/another walkie talkie! Why would I spend any more money afterealizing hwo poor the first component works? And why don't the sellers include 2 walkie talkies???? The camera componet is also very hard to use and also a piece of junk. My parents spent too much money on this for my son and I don't have the receipt, or I would certainly return it.

This product is a piece of junk. The buttons that control the Camera functions and walkie talkie are NOT kid friendly. The walkie talkie has about a 2-3 foot range, so those are worthless. It has a proprietary USB cable to connect it to your computer to download the videos and pictures. I was never able to even get it to plug into the headset, as the port broke right away. This is cheap junk with the GI Joe Label on it. Don't waste your money on it and disappoint your kid.
